The club was formed in 1968 by a couple who wanted an interesting hobby - and are still active members to this day!
From then on, it has gone from strength to strength. We hold 6 shows a year in March, April, June, July, September and October and also participate in local island North/South & West agricultural shows. Also supporting Royal Guernsey Agricultural and Fanciers Association shows. There are various classes for various breeds of rabbits and cavies, available both for the more serious exhibitor and also just for fun classes. There are children's pet classes for the novice child within girl/boy owners and male/female rabbit & guinea pig categories. We also have adult pet classes for the keen adult beginners. Rodents can also be entered as pets. The junior section caters for children 16 and under to compete in breed categories amongst other junior exhibitors. Here they also go through to the open classes and compete in challenges alongside the adults. Lastly the adult open classes are where you can progress to compete to show standard. If you aren't sure of which classes to enter, then one of the committee can advise you what is best. This means you can compete with your animals in a fun and social environment for adults and children alike, with members ranging from 2 years old to nearly 90, each bringing their own knowledge and experience, so all are welcome! We as a club hold many displays throughout the year at various events. Here we have animals on display in runs and on a petting table, advertising the club and what it's all about. Please come along and support us should you hear of a display near you. If you seek any care and well-being advice you are more than welcome to pop down with your pet whether at the displays or on a show day. Fundraisers are key to the continued success of the club so please look out for up and coming events scheduled for the near future and join in if you are free. Members are always willing to lend a hand inside or outside the club, so please don't hesitate to make contact should you need to. The club is based in Guernsey but many of the members take the interest to UK shows and further afield, creating a much loved worldwide hobby. About The Club
The Guernsey Rabbit and Cavy Club is a club based in Guernsey, Channel Islands. Our aim is to provide members and non-members with the opportunity to exhibit their rabbits, guinea pigs, and other cavy or to create an environment where they can develop their hobbies.
Whether you're a breeder or a serious exhibitor, many love participating in senior (adult) and junior animal classes as complete novices.
Our goal is also to provide first-hand advice to all rabbit and guinea pig keepers on the island on the care and welfare of their animals.
You're welcome to attend shows, look around, or stop by for animal advice, either at our shows or at our appearances at various events.
Throughout the year, we also host numerous fundraisers.
The club has a great social element and offers the opportunity to meet like-minded people interested in rabbits and guinea pigs and more, from all walks of life, young and old. Members are always available for information, so feel free to ask and contact us.
